The Southwest Grassfed Livestock Alliance
- SWGLA* is an alliance
of producers, consumers, land managers,
conservationists, and researchers that seeks to
improve human, ecological and animal health, and
strengthen local agricultural communities by
educating producers, and the public about the many
benefits of grassfed livestock products.
SWGLA is a dynamic non-profit
alliance that offers local training workshops for
ranchers and farmers interested in raising grassfed
livestock, offers meat tastings to introduce
consumers to grassfed meat, and collaborates with many partner
organizations on a variety of agriculture, health,
environment and rural economic development issues
facing the people of the Southwest.
SWGLA is committed to developing
programs and initiatives that assist producers and
inform consumers in Arizona, Utah, Colorado and
New Mexico.
When grazing
animals are raised on their natural diet of grass, their products are
low in bad
fat (Omega 6) and calories, but high in
potentially lifesaving good fats (Omega 3). Grass
farming is healthy for animals, for farm families,
for consumers, and for the planet.
